Julia Elenoir is an italian Metal Singer/Songwriter.
Ever since she was a child Julia has shown a huge passion for rock and metal music. She started to play classic guitar at the age of 13 and She formed a rock band at the age of 17. She also began composing her first songs. Over the years her musical style has grown to include more hard rock and metal sound.
In 2015 Julia Elenoir joined the melodic death metal band 5RAND as the lead singer and toured around Europe supporting bands like Dark Tranquillity, Vader, Immolation, Equilibrium, Nervosa and many more.
Hailing from Rome, Italy, 5RAND builds on a punishing modern metal foundation, layered with the cinematic depth of melodic death metal, creating an intense and emotionally immersive soundscape. Fronted by the dynamic dual vocals of Julia Elenoir – shifting seamlessly from visceral growls to haunting clean melodies – the band has carved out a distinctive place in the modern metal scene.
In 2025, 5RAND will unveil their most ambitious work to date – a bold new album recorded at Bloom Recording Studios and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, featuring a powerful guest appearance by the new Fear Factory vocalist, Milo Silvestro. This upcoming release signals a sonic evolution: darker, more introspective, and conceptually daring.
Hello friends! Thank you very much for the interview!
How are you?
Julia:
I’m doing well, thanks… actually pretty charged up with everything that’s going on, both with the band and in my life. There’s always something to dig into, in music and beyond. I’m doing a lot of things, which makes me happy but also very energized… I’m quite critical of myself, though.
Tell us briefly about the essence of the band 5Rand?
Julia:
5RAND is a modern metal band from Rome. We mix a brutal modern metal foundation with the cinematic depth of melodic death metal. There are visceral growls, melancholic clean vocals, powerful riffs… but also emotional layers. The idea is to create an immersive soundscape not just “heaviness for the sake of heaviness,” but something that really hits inside.
Tell us a little about the background of its members?
5Rand:
The core started with guitarist Pierluigi Carocci, who was working on his own project. I joined in 2015.
The lineup then solidified with me (Julia Elenoir) on vocals, Pierluigi on guitar, Andrea De Carolis on drums, and Acey Guns on bass.
The name “5RAND” comes from a South African 5 Rand coin that Pierluigi once received from a shaman as a good-luck charm. It stayed with him and with us.
Musically, we live at the crossroads of aggression and melody: we play, we record, we move forward.
Tell us a little more about yourself, Julia! Please!
Julia:
I was born and raised in Rome, with rock and metal already in my veins. I started playing classical guitar at 13, and by 17 I had already formed a rock band and written my first songs.
Over the years my sound evolved from hard rock to metal, all the way to the extreme. Joining 5RAND in 2015 was a big step.
I’m also passionate about psychology… in fact, I’m a psychologist and later specialized as a psychotherapist with a metal soul.
I love helping people overcome mental struggles.
For Julia:
Do you have any hobbies?
Yes besides music, I love art, books, and sports (especially outdoors and in nature). I also enjoy cooking (a lot) and keeping fit.
You have a powerful voice! You amaze me! Do you have any techniques?
Thank you! The dual-voice style (clean + growl) is one of the things I work on the most. It’s not about volume, but control, endurance, and intensity. You have to be able to express emotion even when the voice is rough.
I always warm up, focus on breathing, and pay close attention to vocal health. Clean parts and growls require completely different mindsets.
Why Death Metal as your main style?
Because I love its edge, its rawness, the catharsis it creates. The extreme side lets me explore, push boundaries and channel aggression and vulnerability at the same time. With 5RAND we mix melodic death and deathcore …not to provoke, but to dig deeper.
Do you have any singers you admire?
Yes! I’ve been inspired by voices like Corey Taylor from Slipknot, and among the women I really admire Cristina Scabbia, Alissa White-Gluz, Tatiana Shmayluk, and other artists who know how to blend intensity and versatility. I admire anyone who can shake me to the core while destroying the stage.
What is easy or difficult about singing in a Death Metal style? Do you also have a Metal Core style?
The hard part is keeping vocal health and expressiveness. The “easy” part or at least what becomes more natural with experience is letting emotion flow once technique is solid.
Yes, our songs have metalcore and deathcore influences combined with melodic death metal structures.
Do you have any solo projects in mind or any other collaborations?
I’m always open. For now, I’m focused on 5RAND, but I don’t rule out solo work or collaborations in the future. Art is fluid; it transforms. I’d especially like to do something acoustic with my own songs, but for now we’re working on the next release.

Tell us about the upcoming album: ORDHALIA

I listened to it and it's really cool!
THANK YOU! Ordhalia is about my transformation. We had a few years without releasing anything… our second album came out at the end of 2019 and then we were about to leave for a tour in March 2020. We were literally stopped at the airport the day we were supposed to fly to the UK… it was March 7. That’s when the lockdown began, and we couldn’t play for a couple of years.
Then our bassist left, and I entered a dark period in my life. I was stuck… I had devoted my entire life to music. I started working with a label, but even that didn’t go well because of the music market freeze. I fell into a deep depression.
At some point, hitting rock bottom, I had to go to psychotherapy. My therapist changed my life. Ordhalia is dedicated to him. With him, I went through hell and came back.
In the meantime, I completed my specialization as a psychotherapist four more years of study after the five I did for psychology. After this journey, I finally felt ready to write new music. Now the band is stronger than ever.
Who collaborated on the musical production and lyrics?
5Rand:
Lyrics are all mine. Music was written by Pierluigi and me he’s a great composer and together we shaped the songs. We recorded at Bloom Recording Studio with Marco Mastrobuono (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance) and mastering was done by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios.
Will there be more music videos for this new album?
5Rand:
Yes, absolutely. It’s very important to us. We’re planning three or four videos for our third release.
Do you have any advance information on any dates for you to perform live? Where? Tour?
5Rand:
We’re working on new dates. With the recent signing with Art Gates Records, we want to expand our touring and reach a wider audience. As soon as everything is confirmed, we’ll announce it on our socials.
What message do you have for your fans?
5Rand:
Thank you! Truly. Without you, none of this would exist. Stay open, authentic, alive. Metal is community, emotion, truth. Keep headbanging, but also keep digging inside yourselves into your mind and your art.
What does Julia and the band 5Rand offer us with this new album?
5Rand:
An evolution. Heavier where it needs to be, more melodic where it matters, darker when the heart demands it. We’re continuing our journey growing in sound, production, emotion and concept. Not just an album, but a voyage.

Julia Elenoir es una cantante y compositora italiana de metal.
Desde niña, Julia ha demostrado una gran pasión por el rock y el metal. Empezó a tocar la guitarra clásica a los 13 años y formó una banda de rock a los 17. También empezó a componer sus primeras canciones. Con los años, su estilo musical ha evolucionado hasta incluir sonidos más hard rock y metal.

¿Cómo están?
Julia:
Estoy bien, gracias... la verdad es que estoy bastante animada con todo lo que está pasando, tanto con la banda como en mi vida. Siempre hay algo que explorar, tanto en la música como en otros ámbitos. Estoy haciendo muchas cosas, lo que me hace feliz y también me llena de energía... Aunque soy bastante crítica conmigo misma.
Cuéntanos brevemente sobre la esencia de la banda 5Rand?
Julia:
5RAND es una banda de metal moderno de Roma. Mezclamos una base brutal de metal moderno con la profundidad cinematográfica del death metal melódico. Hay gruñidos viscerales, voces limpias y melancólicas, riffs potentes… pero también capas emocionales. La idea es crear un paisaje sonoro envolvente, no solo "pesado por pesado", sino algo que realmente llegue al interior.
Cuéntanos un poco sobre la trayectoria de sus miembros?
5Rand:
El núcleo empezó con el guitarrista Pierluigi Carocci, quien trabajaba en su propio proyecto. Me uní en 2015.
La formación se consolidó con Julia Elenoir como vocalista, Pierluigi como guitarrista, Andrea De Carolis como batería y Acey Guns como bajo.
El nombre "5RAND" proviene de una moneda sudafricana de 5 rands que Pierluigi recibió de un chamán como amuleto de buena suerte. Se quedó con él y con nosotros.
Musicalmente, vivimos en la encrucijada de la agresividad y la melodía: tocamos, grabamos, avanzamos.
Cuéntanos un poco más sobre ti, Julia. ¡Por favor!
Julia:
Nací y crecí en Roma, con el rock y el metal en las venas. Empecé a tocar la guitarra clásica a los 13 años y a los 17 ya había formado una banda de rock y compuesto mis primeras canciones.
Con los años, mi sonido evolucionó del hard rock al metal, llegando incluso al extremo. Unirme a 5RAND en 2015 fue un gran paso.
También me apasiona la psicología; de hecho, soy psicóloga y posteriormente me especialicé como psicoterapeuta con alma metalera.
Me encanta ayudar a las personas a superar sus dificultades mentales.
Para Julia:
¿Tienes alguna afición?
Sí, además de la música, me encanta el arte, los libros y los deportes (sobre todo al aire libre y en la naturaleza). También disfruto mucho cocinar y mantenerme en forma.
¡Tienes una voz potente! ¡Me asombras! ¿Tienes alguna técnica?
¡Gracias! El estilo de voz dual (clean + growl) es una de las cosas en las que más trabajo. No se trata de volumen, sino de control, resistencia e intensidad. Hay que ser capaz de expresar emociones incluso con la voz áspera.
Siempre caliento, me concentro en la respiración y presto mucha atención a la salud vocal. Las partes clean y growl requieren mentalidades completamente diferentes.
¿Por qué el death metal es tu estilo principal?
Porque me encanta su filo, su crudeza, la catarsis que crea. El lado extremo me permite explorar, traspasar límites y canalizar la agresividad y la vulnerabilidad al mismo tiempo. En 5RAND mezclamos death melódico y deathcore… no para provocar, sino para profundizar.
¿Admiras a algún cantante?
¡Sí! Me han inspirado voces como la de Corey Taylor de Slipknot, y entre las mujeres que admiro mucho están Cristina Scabbia, Alissa White-Gluz, Tatiana Shmayluk y otras artistas que saben combinar intensidad y versatilidad. Admiro a cualquiera que pueda sacudirme hasta la médula mientras destroza el escenario.
¿Qué es fácil o difícil de cantar al estilo Death Metal? ¿También tienes un estilo Metal Core?
Lo difícil es mantener la salud vocal y la expresividad. Lo "fácil", o al menos lo que se vuelve más natural con la experiencia, es dejar fluir la emoción una vez que la técnica está bien asentada.
Sí, nuestras canciones tienen influencias del metalcore y el deathcore combinadas con estructuras melódicas de death metal.
¿Tienes algún proyecto en solitario o alguna otra colaboración en mente?
Siempre estoy abierta. Por ahora, estoy centrada en 5RAND, pero no descarto trabajos en solitario ni colaboraciones en el futuro. El arte es fluido; se transforma. Me gustaría especialmente hacer algo acústico con mis propias canciones, pero por ahora estamos trabajando en el próximo lanzamiento.

¡Lo escuché y es genial!
¡GRACIAS! Ordhalia trata sobre mi transformación. Estuvimos unos años sin publicar nada… nuestro segundo álbum salió a finales de 2019 y estábamos a punto de salir de gira en marzo de 2020. Nos pararon en el aeropuerto el día que debíamos volar al Reino Unido… era el 7 de marzo. Ahí empezó el confinamiento y no pudimos tocar durante un par de años.
Entonces nuestro bajista se fue y entré en una etapa oscura de mi vida. Estaba estancada… Había dedicado toda mi vida a la música. Empecé a trabajar con un sello discográfico, pero ni siquiera eso salió bien debido a la paralización del mercado musical. Caí en una profunda depresión.
En algún momento, al tocar fondo, tuve que ir a psicoterapia. Mi terapeuta me cambió la vida. Ordhalia está dedicado a él. Con él, pasé por un infierno y recuperé la cabeza. Mientras tanto, completé mi especialización como psicoterapeuta tras cuatro años más de estudio, después de los cinco que cursé en psicología. Tras este viaje, finalmente me sentí listo para componer nueva música. Ahora la banda está más fuerte que nunca.
¿Quién colaboró en la producción musical y las letras?
5Rand:
Las letras son todas mías. La música la compusimos Pierluigi y yo; él es un gran compositor y juntos dimos forma a las canciones. Grabamos en Bloom Recording Studio con Marco Mastrobuono (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour Of Penance) y la masterización estuvo a cargo de Jens Bogren en Fascination Street Studios.
¿Habrá más videos musicales para este nuevo álbum?
5Rand:
Sí, por supuesto. Es muy importante para nosotros. Estamos planeando tres o cuatro videos para nuestro tercer lanzamiento.
¿Tienen información anticipada sobre las fechas de sus presentaciones en vivo?
¿Dónde? ¿De gira?
5Rand:
Estamos trabajando en nuevas fechas. Con la reciente firma con Art Gates Records, queremos expandir nuestras giras y llegar a un público más amplio. En cuanto todo esté confirmado, lo anunciaremos en nuestras redes sociales.

5Rand:
Una evolución. Más heavy donde debe ser, más melódico donde importa, más oscuro cuando el corazón lo exige. Seguimos creciendo en sonido, producción, emoción y concepto. No solo un álbum, sino un viaje.
